How to bridge funds from Sei to Ethereum & other blockchains using your Sei Wallet?

The Current version of the Compass wallet extension is v0.7.9. Please update your extension to the latest version to have a seamless Sei experience. Check the Compass troubleshooting section at the end of this guide on how to update your Compass wallet.
 
 

Introduction:

This step-by-step guide will help you for bridging your assets from Sei to other blockchains like Ethereum. Sei currently supports bridging out to the following chains:
  1. Ethereum
  1. Solana
  1. Polygon
  1. Arbitrum
  1. BNB Smart Chain
  1. Osmosis
  1. Optimism

Bridging funds from Sei to another blockchain

Here’s a video of a step-by-step guide on how to bridge funds from your Sei wallet to other blockchains👇 (The process is the same for other blockchains listed above) You would need a Compass wallet for the Sei extension before you bridge your funds out to another chain. Open the Sei dApp on your desktop using this link - https://app.sei.io/bridge and follow the steps in the video.
 
Alternatively, you can follow these steps 👇:
Before we get started, make sure you have installed Compass Wallet and upgraded your Compass Wallet to v0.7.8 or above so that you can access Sei Mainnet.

  1. Click on Compass Wallet in your extension bar on your browser & enter your password to unlock your Compass wallet

  1. Open the Sei dApp on your desktop using this link - https://app.sei.io/bridge

  1. Now, Click on 🔁 the double arrow button to Bridge from Sei to Ethereum.

  1. Click on the "Connect Wallet" button and select Compass.

  1. Go to Bridge from the left-hand menu & select “Ethereum” in the “To“ dropdown list.

  1. Select the token and enter the number of tokens you want to bridge from Sei to Ethereum.

  1. Now connect your Ethereum Wallet by clicking on the “Connect Wallet” button.

  1. Now, click the autofill address option. Note that the destination wallet will be the same Ethereum wallet you connected to in the above step.

  1. Click on “Bridge to Ethereum” and approve the transaction on your Compass wallet to initiate the bridge transfer.

  1. Please note that depending on the network load, it might take some time to get your funds transferred from Sei to another blockchain. While the bridging is being processed, you can click on the “You have a bridge transaction in progress” button on the top to track the bridging progress.
  1. Now, once the initial steps are completed. Click on “Copy VAA” and open the wormhole bridge using the button located in the middle of the screen at bottom. You can also use this link to access Wormhole Bridge - https://www.portalbridge.com/#/transfer

  1. Click on “Redeem” Tab on Wormhole bridge and select the chain you have bridged to. In this case, it’s Ethereum.

  1. Connect your Ethereum wallet to Wormhole Bridge now.

  1. Now scroll down your screen and head over to the “Advanced” dropdown menu.

  1. Paste the VAA copied earlier from step 10, here in the “Signed VAA(Hex)” text box. The rest of the details will be filled in automatically.
15. Click on the RECOVER button now. You will be redirected to the Tokens tab now. Press REDEEM button.

  1. Approve the txn from your metamask wallet. That’s it. Congrats 🥳 You have now completed your first bridge txn from Sei to another blockchain.

How to update Compass to the latest version?
Solution: Restart your browser. If it doesn’t work, follow the steps in the below video
Compass is taking too long to connect to a dapp
Solution: Unlock your wallet by entering your password before connecting to the dapp.
Getting chain not supported error
Solution: Update your compass wallet to v0.7.9 or above by restarting your browser. If the issue persists, update your browser, reinstall Compass and import your wallet.
How to switch to mainnet on Compass?
Solution: First, check if your compass wallet is on version 0.7.9 or above. If it is updated, click on the hamburger (three lines) button on the left hand top side of Compass wallet. Click on Network and select Mainnet.
Compass is taking too long to load token balances
Solution: This happens when network load is high and RPC nodes are busy. Wait for sometime and check again.
Can’t connect my Leap wallet to a dapp
Solution: We recommend installing Compass and trying to connect to Sei dapps with it. You can install Compass wallet using this guide 👇
