This guide provides a step-by-step explanation of how to create your Sei wallet using Compass and get started with your exploration of the Sei v2.

How to associate your EVM and SEI Address?

Alternatively, you can follow these 4 easy steps to associate your EVM and SEI Address using Compass👇
- Update your Compass Wallet to the new version using this guide Update Compass wallet to the latest version
- After updating, you will see a banner to link your addresses.
- Click on “Link Addresses” to proceed to the Sei portal. Now, connect your wallet to Sei dApp.
- Scroll down and complete the captcha under the “Addresses” section.
- Next, approve a transaction to complete your addresses linking transaction and go back to Compass Wallet to check your updated status for addresses linking.
Why do you need to link your addresses?
Every account on the Sei blockchain has a unique public key. In Sei v2, this public key translates into two different types of addresses:
- EVM Address: This address starts with
0xand is used for EVM-based activities.
- SEI Address: This address starts with
seiand is used for Sei-native activities.
Although these addresses appear different, they actually share the same underlying account. This means whatever action you take with one address will also affect the other.
If you deposit funds into your EVM address, you can access and use those same funds with your SEI address, and vice versa. They are linked together as one account, ensuring seamless integration between the EVM and SEI ecosystems.
